How to prepare for your spray tan.....

For the best results, shower and exfoliate your entire body before your spray tan.  Wax or shave before your session, preferably the day before or morning of.   Make sure your skin is free of all lotions, oils, gels or any other products (including foundation if you want your face tanned) that may create a barrier.

What to wear before and after your spray tan session.....

Select a dark bathing suit or underwear to wear while being spray tanned, though you may opt for a no tan line session and be sprayed in the nude (applies to women only). Most importantly, wear what you feel comfortable in. Wear loose dark clothing and sandals for at least two hours after your spray tan. Tight fitting clothes and shoes can cause skin friction in the first couple of hours after your spray tan, which may affect the outcome of your tan. Any rub-off of the bronzer should easily wash out of most fabrics.

How to care for your spray tan.....

Avoid all contact with water for the first 2 hours, especially to the top of the hands. Wait 6-8 hours before showering (overnight is best). Avoid perspiring to allow the solution ample time to penetrate your skin.

The solution easily adheres to the palms and fingertips. As a result you must avoid touching the skin with the palms of the hands. If you do touch the skin with the palms of your hands, wipe your palms off with a damp cloth. If you are sleeping in your solution, wear long sleeves and long pants to bed. This will minimize your palms having contact with your skin and better prevent the bronzer from getting on your sheets.

Once you shower you will see the bronzer wash off (this is normal). When showering, use your palms for lathering in place of a loofah or washcloth. Be careful not to exfoliate the skin when towel-drying.

After your first shower begin applying ample moisturizer. Moisturize at least twice a day! Hydrated skin has been proven to help extend the life of a spray tan and greatly assist in the fading process. Also, the coloring agent DHA which is included in all spray tanning solutions can be drying to the skin. To prevent drying of the skin, ensure that moisturizer is applied liberally.

Throughout the duration of your spray tan, avoid activities that may cause skin exfoliation. Hot baths and showers will exfoliate your skin. Chlorinated pools and hot tubs will dry your skin and shorten the life of your spray tan. If you will be in a chlorinated pool use waterproof sunscreen to help protect your tan. Frequent perspiration from working out will also shorten the life of your spray tan. These activities will likely result in uneven fading of your spray tan.

In about 5-7 days your spray tan will begin to fade and possibly break up. You may notice lighter color and some breaks in the consistency of color. You will want to help your spray tan in the fading process. You can do so by exfoliating. Exfoliating will assist in removing the spray tan in areas where the consistency of the color is uneven. Simply exfoliate with an exfoliating gel and wash cloth.
